Four floating points of ebony are set into this cue’s birdeye maple forearm. Amboyna outlines each point and in the center is a separated elliptical diamond. The top and bottom of the diamond are ivory and the sides are mother-of-pearl. The birdseye maple butt sleeve continues this combination with four windows of amboyna and ebony. The inlays in these windows match the inlays in the forearm. Decorative rings of amboyna, german nickel silver and ebony pull the cue together. In each ring are twelve inlaid mother-of-pearl parallelograms. The rings are at the joint, top of the wrap, and the top and bottom of the butt sleeve. Each shaft will have rings that match the rest of the cue. The total number of inlays including those in the shafts is 104. The joint is ivory and the butt plate is made of an ivory substitute. The wrap is white with double black specks.
This handcrafted Downey Custom Cue features a 13mm shaft diameter with a 12-1/2" taper and moori medium-hard laminated tip. The joint uses a 3/8" radial™ brass pin into wood. The brass pin provides a better feel and a better hit. The cue measures 58" long and is available in weights of 18-21 oz. Includes two shafts with ivory ferrules and dymondwood joint protectors.
