This Downey cue combines a traditional look with interesting shapes to make it exceptional. It begins with a birdseye maple forearm highlighted by four ebony points, each outlined with four veneers of black, green, purple and green. This striking color combination is also used in the twelve-windowed rings. Set into each point is one abalone diamond accented by three abalone dots. This design repeats in the ebony butt sleeve, where you find four boxes outlined with green and purple veneers. Each box features a window composed of six separate ivory ellipses, and inside each window are one abalone diamond accented by six abalone dots. The inlays in this cue total 68. The wrap is black leather and the shaft features an ivory ferrule.
This handcrafted Downey Custom Cue features a 13mm shaft diameter with a 12-1/2" taper, Stratos medium-hard laminated tip, and linen-based laminate ferrule. The joint is flat-faced and wood-to-wood using a 3/8" radial™ brass pin into wood. The brass pin provides a better feel and a better hit. The cue measures 58" long and is available in weights of 18-21 oz. Includes two shafts and dymondwood joint protectors.
